The Humanitarian Development Summit

The Humanitarian Development Summit (HDS) will bring together leading groups from all over the world to Nairobi to meet in one place, under one roof. It will include international donors, developing nation governments, aid agencies, UN funds and programs, foundations and private sector operators.

Donor agencies

The HDP will be working closely with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in Nairobi to ensure the highest level of participation from the various UN funds and programs. Leading NGOs and agencies will be given special exhibition booths in the KICC where they can meet and greet all those who wish to work with them.

Government officials

The HDP will be working closely with ministries from the Kenyan Government in preparation for the organisation of the summit. All national embassies in Nairobi will be informed of the summit as well as their ambassadors, with economic and commercial attaches being invited as VIPs.

The program of the HDS will be aimed at maximising participation from ministers of governments in Africa and other developing nations. This will be done through their ministries of foreign affairs, investment and trade. Correct protocol will dictate that the message is spread across government ministries.

Format

The summit will be a multi-layered event allowing for private bilateral meetings, government and NGO workshops, exhibition, seminars, plenary speeches and working groups devoted to various sector requirements, evoking the successful formula achieved at previous Development Program summits.

The summit will include a number of key features:
• Exhibition
• Plenary Conference
• Specialist Seminars
• Ministerial Workshops
• Industry Sector Workshops
• Private Meeting Sessions
• ‘Meet The Investors’ & ‘Meet The Buyers’ communities
